PRO D Day: November 22, 2013

How do we choose what to do this year for personal inquiry?

We are excited to offer a Professional Development Day that introduces teachers to a range of curriculum and technology options. There will 4 mini sessions and 2 half day workshops offered throughout the day . Teachers will have the opportunity to sign up for 3 sessions of their choice.

Learning Stations: Universal Design for Learning (UDL), SMART Boards Intro, Digital Photography in the Classroom, Web 2.0 Projects, Podcasts, District Hosted WordPress Blogs

Location:      WCLT ( 814 Goldstream Ave.)

Time:  9am- 2pm (you may attend all day or choose 1 or 2 sessions)

Introduction to SMART Board

PRO D Day: November 22, 2013

Where do I start with my new SMART Board?

 This session is designed for Teachers with a SMART board in their classroom that are either new to the technology or who need a review of SMART Board basics. Kerry Arnott, a certified instructor, will lead you through the basic functions of your SMART Board and provide breakout time to practice, search, and create resources for your classroom.

Location:      Sooke Elementary School

Time:              9am-1pm

SMART Boards Intermediate & Advanced

PRO D Day: March 7, 2014 CANCELLED

How do I integrate my SMART Board more effectively into my practice?

This sessions has been designed for teachers with access to and experience with SMART Boards who are looking to further explore integrating the technology into their classroom. Teachers will collaboratively develop interactive lessons and explore the more advanced functions of the SMART Board. Breakout time to practice, search, and create resources for your classroom will be provided.

PRO D Day: March 7, 2014 Universal Design for LearningUDL2

Description: What’s the Buzz about UDL? Want to learn more about a proactive planning framework to support all learners in a diverse classroom? Curious about how technology ‘fits’? Then this workshop is for you! Be prepared to roll up your sleeves to develop lessons and learn how you can apply the UDL framework and incorporate technology in your classroom. This workshop is 9am to 11:45am.

PRO D Day: March 7, 2014 Creating Blogs for Teaching & Learningblog

Description: Within this 90 min session you will learn how to create and use a WordPress blog to support your students’ learning. As the blog is hosted on district servers, you do not need to worry about BC Privacy Laws. You will be walked through different steps, provided with time to and play and given time to ask questions.

Description: If you are interested in learning about the basics of  Project Based Learning as well as being provided with time to collaborate and create your own potential lessons then this is a great place to start.
